Fashionably late
A couple of months ago we were asked to be the house band for the Turners Falls Lost-and-Found Fashion Show at the Shea Theater.
We were happy not only to rock out but also to strut around in some of this year's fashions, which were created by local designers out of clothes abandoned at Suzee's Third St. Laundry. Christopher, Daniel, and James sported dresses made by Anne Harding (on whose porch we recently played another gig), while Dan donned a fetching little one-strap number by the multi-talented Rachel Teumim.
Who wore it better?
The Heaves started the show on the Shea's lobby staircase making noise with a balalaika, maracas, and so forth while Rachel and some other improvisational dancers climbed up and twisted around the railings.
Like a bunch of pied pipers, we eventually led the audience into the theater and plugged in. We provided the accompaniment for some of the models on the runway — which, we were stoked to see, had been repurposed from the "treehouse" we played in for Alice in Wonderland a few years back.
We also played some full songs in between fashion lines — including the rendition of "The Drifter" you'll find above. Footage shot by Montague Community Television provided the whole cloth that that we sliced up and stitched together into this exquisite example of audiovisual haute couture.
Make sure to watch to the very end, because you definitely don't want to miss emcee Furry McNuggets convincing Christopher to take his pants off.
